The Company

EdgeNet Broadband Data Solution is a service provided by CanStarz Satellite Solutions of Calgary, Canada. The parent company started providing satellite based broadband solutions to the Energy, Mining, Forestry and Construction industries starting in 2002. In June, 2004, CanStarz was incorporated to consolidate all activities related to broadband solutions.

In the early stages, the company focused on providing Internet connectivity to remote locations throughout Western Canada. It provided hardware, airtime packages, installations, help desk and training to deliver Internet browsing, data transfer, Voice over IP, and Thin Client Solution. In 2007, its parent company undertook a major project requiring large amount of data transfer on daily basis over the wired network. The project was implemented by building two separate facilities handling the wired network requirements. The main facility was located in Toronto at 151 Front Street and a subordinate facility was built in Calgary

In 2009, company decided to expand its wired network operations and also enter into the wireless solutions in addition to its satellite service. The subordinate facility built in 2007 has been expanded to accommodate colocate services and provide dedicated high speed Internet connectivity to the foothills industrial complex. The expansion of the facility required bringing in fiber connectivity and supplement it with back up wireless connection to provide redundancy.

Today, company operates one of the most secure, reliable, flexible and cost effective data center in Calgary. Apart from implementing the standard security features like the other data centers, company feels that its physical location is one of the key offering when it comes to security. The facility is located in the Foothills Industrial Park, 21 Km. away from downtown, in the South-East quadrant of the city, on 10 acre industrial lot with only two buildings at the location. The facility is low key, low profile, low visibility and away from any and all areas to continue providing services in the most adverse conditions.

The large open space allows the facility to be supported by all the redundancy services such as emergency power, cooling, fuel storage etc. being located within easy reach.

Our facility is highly flexible. We can provide our customer anything from 1/4 of a cabinet, to building them a completely stand-alone facility to host their equipment.
